LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN
Worldwide, the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics.
Law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional and World Games. Annually, more than 97,000 dedicated and compassionate law enforcement members carry the flame, symbolizing courage and celebrating the diversity of uniting communities around the globe.
Law enforcement officers in Mississippi use off-duty time to support athletes and programs, and the funds raised for Mississippi through t-shirt sales, car washes and softball and basketball tournaments exceeded our wildest expectations in 2017!—Those monies help our homegrown athletes and their communities.
